Track Trivia

Here are some other bits of trivia that don't fit in anywhere else...

There are several songs the band has played live that have yet to be recorded / released. These are:

  • 'Nuclear Winter' (Released on the cassette version of single 'I Lost Control (Of My Rock 'n' Roll)'
  • 'Strike While The Iron Is Hot' (Played for six months live and demoed for 'Señor Smoke')
  • 'Telephone Conversation' (Though there are rumours that this has been recorded but not completed)
  • 'Underwear' by 'The Magnetic Fields' (see below); performed acoustically by Tyler Spencer
  • 'Stand back' by Stevie Nicks, performed live at some tour dates of the 'Señor Smoke USA tour 2006'

  • 'Switzerland' was mixed in late February 2006 having been recorded in November 2005 (Daniel Mickelwhite)
  • 'Danger! High Voltage' has been used on 'Malcolm In The Middle' (Daniel Mickelwhite) and 'Future Boys' was used on an F1 show (source forgotten, sorry!)

Other songs that are referred to in other E6 works:

  • 'Mr Roboto' by Styx (The Ballade of MC Sucka DJ)
  • 'Jump Around' by House of Pain (The Ballade of MC Sucka DJ)

Other bits of track trivia:

  • The live version of 'Computer' on 'Don't Be Afraid of the Robot' makes a reference to 'Shamu', a performing whale at Sea World
  • 'I Am Detroit' ends with quotes by ex-Detroit mayor Coleman Young
  • The telephone number in 'Telephone Conversation' is adapted from the song 'Jenny 8675309' which prompted hundreds of listeners to call that number. See the 'Telephone Conversation' lyrics page for more information.
  • The strange elongated sound in 'Devil Nights' is a reversed and altered soundbite of 'I Am Drew Peters' bitch'. See 'Devil Nights' lyrics page for more information. 'Devil Nights' could also refer to 'Devil's Night', a Hallowe'en event in Detroit where teenagers go round causing mischief (like mischief night in the UK) (Thanks to Randy for this)
  • Several songs use or adapt common phrases such as 'Night Vision' ('In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king' becomes 'in the land of the blind the night vision users are laughing at the king') and 'Pulling The Plug On The Party'.
  • Shakespeare is referenced in the song 'Slices Of You' ('If music be the food of love, play on')
  • Dick said on Riff2 (20th Jan 2007) that the band haven't learnt 'Pink Flamingos' to play live.
  • The fourth album title 'I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me Which Restricts Me From Being The Master' is the title of a 1921 piece of art by George Grosz.
  • Fast food plays a big part in many songs including 'Boy or Girls?', 'Telephone Conversation', 'Danger! High Voltage', and 'Down At McDonnellzzz' along with 'Slices of You' and 'Chinese Restaurant' about food in general.

Some guy at the back of the club started yelling 'Continue...for the love of God, continue! It was brilliant.'" [Thanks to Shannon for this]

Computer Game Versions and the old official Wildbunch site

There are also synthesized versions of 'Animal Attraction' and 'Gay Bar' around from some computer games produced during the time as 'The Wildbunch'. 'Golden Tony' has advised me these were available on the official 'Wildbunch' website along with a computer game version of 'Tiny Little Men' as well! There was also an accoustic version of 'The Model' available. (See 'Live' and 'Jo Whiley' fact)

Joe Frezza was responsible for the video game versions of those three songs. There were tentative plans for a WIldbunch/E6 video game at various points, which is why the songs were developed in that way.

1: (2006) Recording of the video for I Buy The Drugs. 6: (2003) Fire charts at number seven in the UK. 11: (2006) Launch of Wiki-Six. 15: (2007) Fourth album title and tracklist announced. 17: (2006) Debut of track Mr. Woman on the original MySpace site. 21: (2006) Release of track 'Infected Girls' and the video for 'I Buy The Drugs' onto MySpace. 25: (1998) Don't Be Afraid of the Robot released. 26: (2006) Jen revealed she would be stepping down as the runner of the band's MySpace.
