News Archive 2006
26th December 2006 - Happy Boxing Day and I hope you had a great Christmas Day! Today is the first day of the two-month
long poll to find your favourite Electric Six songs. Premiering in 2006, I am once more asking you to give a vote for
every E6 track recorded so a top 40 can be compiled. You have up until the 28th February to vote... click on the 'top 40'
link on the left menu for more information!
24th December 2006 - May I wish everyone a Merry Christmas! There isn't a weekly poll today... you'll find out why
on Tuesday...
17th December 2006 - A week before Christmas Eve and it's time for the next new feature in the run up to the site's
second birthday. Oliver has been busy working on some guitar tabs over the last few weeks and you can now see his first
five via the new link on the left. Keep an eye out for more updates soon including a Boxing Day special with the return
of an annual event...
There's a brand new weekly poll now online as well with a question picked by forum member "djkalteraphine". See the
results for last week's poll and find the link to the current one via the 'weekly poll' link on the left!
I've also added the alternative cover for 'Rock Empire' and some information on Brickyard.
10th December 2006 - A new poll is available via the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left. It's been a slow month so far
but in the next few weeks expect a few great new updates - including the next section of the second birthday stuff; a
complete version of a missing cover, some information on some old related tracks - and, of course, more great news from
'the wwwildbunch' (see www.e6fanclub.co.uk for more information!)
Over the last week I've also been updating the merchandise sections with some newly discovered stuff.
3rd December 2006 - A brand new poll is now available via the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left, where you can also see
all the results so far. I'd also like to attract your attention to www.e6fanclub.co.uk and the posting on Wiki-Six. This
venture is only open to a select few at the moment but once everything has been tested it will be opened to more people!
26th November 2006 - It's going to be a busy week this week with the unveiling of a new venture (see banner above and
details on the forum). It's been four months in the construction and promises to be fantastic. Also, there's a brand new
poll that expands on last week's one which 'Senor Smoke' topped as the most popular album. Click on the 'Weekly Poll' link
on the left menu to vote this week and see all the previous results. Keep checking the forum for all the latest information
especially as the UK tour dates have just been announced!
19th November 2006 - There's a brand new weekly poll online asking for your favourite of the three latest albums plus
your reasons why. Check out all the votes so far - including 'Night Vision''s close win as the favourite contender for
next single via the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left. Also, after it was mentioned on the forum recently, I've dug out
the handy 'Dress up Dick Valentine' game which for some reason disappeared off the website. You can click here to play it! (Requires Flash)
18th November 2006 - After much work, I've uploaded the first in the new sections of the site - a comprehensive guide
to gig posters. See the link on the left for 50+ gig posters. Keep checking back for more new features as the second birthday
date approaches.
12th November 2006 - A brand new poll is online to ask you which 'Switzerland' track you'd like to have as a single
if the band decided to do another. The video for 'There's Something Very Wrong...' proved very popular, scoring 8.9 / 10
making it the most popular thing of 'Switzerland' so far. Click on the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left to see all votes
and to take part in this week's poll.
I have also put the 'stuff needed' list onto a new page and have also updated a few bits of the site that were out
of date.
9th November 2006 - Updated the site with some more issues of Kerrang and some new promo CDs featuring the band. It
seems that the merchandise page is expanding with each week!
5th November 2006 - Firstly let my extend my apologies to everyone for the absense of Wiki-Six since Friday. I hope
it's return will remove all your withdrawal symptoms! Head over to the forum to see the latest 'Weekly Poll' following
on from the last of the polls of 'Switzerland' tracks. Click on the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left for all the results
and a link to the current poll!
4th November 2006 - Two more compilations added to the growing compilation list, plus I have names of new ones
shown as part of the list below!
30th October 2006 - Update the merchandise page with two new magazines and the compilations page with loads of new
information and unknown compilations!
28th October 2006 - Time for the final 'Weekly Poll' in regards to 'Switzerland' tracks before moving onto some
other bits and bobs. See the results for last week's poll and a link to the current poll via the 'Weekly Poll' link
on the left. Expect some updates to the compilations are at sometime hopefully on Monday!
22nd October 2006 - Updated the main site with some more compilations (see big list below) and merchandise (see the
merchandise page), including a never-before-seen poodle t-shirt!
21st October 2006 - I've uploaded a few other bits and bobs of merchandise plus the latest poll asking for your opinion
on 'Switzerland' track 'There's Something Very Wrong With Us So Let's Go Out Tonight', the penultimate track left to vote
for on 'Switzerland'. Check the 'weekly poll' link on the left for last week's result...
15th October 2006 - Due to the appearance of several new (and fantastic) t-shirt designs on the official site (only
available at gigs at the moment I'm afraid) I've updated the 'Merchandise page' with them plus some new items and images.
15th October 2006 - The latest 'weekly poll' is online as we near the end of evaluating the 'Switzerland tracks'. Click
on the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left to see all the results so far and a link to the current poll!
14th October 2006 - I've now had the opportunity to sort through some new arrivals so the site is now fully update with
the American promo of 'Fire', the Australian release of 'Switzerland', some more details about compilations and the appearance
of a few more 'Electric Six' related items!
10th October 2006 - The promo video for 'There's Something Very Wrong With Us...' is now available on the band's MySpace.
Check out the 'videos' section to see it and for some stills plus all the usual video info!
8th October 2006 - Speaking to a fellow fan reminded me to post this. Now appearing on this page is the list of tracks
/ releases / mash-ups I still don't have to complete the archive of 'Electric Six' material. If you have anything mentioned
below to sell / swap etc (non-commercial only though, nothing you can still buy!) or know of something missing from the big
collection list or the discography then please contact me...
8th October 2006 - A bit quiet on the E6 front at the moment, isn't it? Very shortly I shall be able to upload the
details of Australian 'Switzerland' and a few other bits I have got but for now you'll just have to check out the latest
weekly poll for your opinions on 'Switzerland' track 'Pink Flamingos'. Check out the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left for
the voting link and for all the results so far!
1st October 2006 - The latest weekly poll is now online asking for your opinions on 'Switzerland' track 'Rubber Rocket'.
Check out the question and the results of last week's poll via the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left menu.
25th September 2006 - And to complete the double act, the second part of the exclusive 'Dick Valentine' interview is
now available on the 'exclusives' section of 'Wiki-Six' to all those registered on the forum!
24th September 2006 - A brand new poll is now online to see how much you like the first track on the 'Switzerland' album,
'The Band In Hell'. Results for the last poll - plus a link to the voting area - are available via the 'weekly poll' link
on the left menu!
23rd September 2006 - As promised from earlier in the week, part one of the electricsixlyrics exclusive interview with
Dick Valentine is now available to those registered on Wiki-Six. Looking at the 'Switzerland' album and the subsequent tour,
the interview can be accessed through the exclusives board. For those of you who aren't registered on the board, why not
do so now and, as well as seeing the interview, will be able to contribute to all sorts of E6-releated discussions! Part
two of the interview will debut on Monday!
17th September 2006 - It's Sunday and that means the latest 'Weekly Poll'. Though I promised it would be a question on
the 'Switzerland' music, the appearance of the 'Pulling The Plug On The Party' video has caused me to alter the question. Vote
and see all the previous results via the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left. It does give everyone more time anyway to get hold
of 'Switzerland' and evaluate the tracks!
15th September 2006 - Adding the lyrics to the new 'The Future Is In The Future' remix. Check out the A-Z or discography
sections for them. The track is now available as a 256kb mp3 download from the Inertia Music website and the album is
also available to buy.
14th September 2006 - Thanks to the observations of Pyschobadger on the forum, it has been announced that a 'Midnight
Remix' of 'The Future Is In The Future' will appear as a bonus track on the end of the Australian release of 'Switzerland'.
More on this as I get it, but the album STILL isn't available to pre-order, still just asking for your e-mail address to
be notified when it is!
Also, thanks to other forum-er Francis, the official video for 'Pulling The Plug On The Party' has been revealed. Check
out the 'videos' section for screen shots and the YouTube video of it. Created by 'Cargo Hold Pictures' it's the first
video without any members of the band and is set in a club and is a dance-off contest. The video and history sections have
been updated accordingly. To see how I interpreted the video back in July, click on the 'Fan Video' link on the left!
12th September 2006 - Well, after a 19 month wait since the initial release of 'Senor Smoke', Electric Six's third
album 'Switzerland' is finally released in the US. With 13 tracks housed in many genres, 'Switzerland' contains the
single 'I Buy The Drugs' and is home to other cracking tracks such as 'Night Vision', 'Pulling The Plug On The Party'
and 'Slices of You' to mention three! For all the information on 'Switzerland', check out the 'Switzerland' section on
the left and the discography, or have a mooch around the 'Wiki-Six' forum where you can chat with other fans. If you
live in the US pop into your local 'Metropolis Records' stockist or if not order on the Internet today! You won't
regret it!
10th September 2006 - The latest weekly poll is now online, asking for your opinions on the 'Mr. Woman' video. Last
week's question on a small acoustic section in each live gig show was met with a mixed reaction. See the results, and
the latest question, by clicking on 'weekly poll' on the left.
8th September 2006 - As expected, thanks to Damien's research, 'Mr. Woman' is now available to watch. See the video
section for a link, stills and a description of the video, though it's best to watch it first. Expect the video for
'There's Something Very Wrong With You So Let's Go Out Tonight' and the animated 'Pink Flamingos' to be appearing
at some point in the near future.
4th September 2006 - It might be a day late but the new weekly poll is now online, asking for your opinions on
acoustic sessions in live gigs. Last week's poll, which talked about the format for the next E6 release, proved
unanamously that you would like a physical release for the single! Now let's just hope it happens!
2nd September 2006 - Updated the discography with a newly discovered 'American promo' for 'Fire'. Thanks to
Nick Jeffs for this. Also, don't forget the 'I Buy The Drugs' video competition held on MySpace: the deadline is
Friday. If you've created a video, send me a link and I'll add them to the 'Fan Video' page.
29th August 2006 - Thanks to the speedy dispatch from 'Metropolis Records' I now have an actual copy of 'Switzerland'.
I've updated the 'Switzerland' and 'discography' sections and corrected the lyrics thanks to the handy lyrics booklet
included with the CD. If you haven't pre-ordered a copy of the album, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR????
27th August 2006 - Added a couple of .pdfs to the site, collecting a load of press cuttings I won on eBay yonks ago.
You can access them through the 'Net Archive' section. They include the amazing juxtaposition of one reviewer praising
'Radio Ga Ga' as the best thing on 'Senor Smoke' against another declaring that everyone associated with the record
should be hung up by their testacles; the intriguingly title 'Electric Six: How To Pick Up Men' with an image of Dick
Valentine that has to be seen to be believed; and an early article from January 2003 that says 'Radio Ga Ga' was once
going to be on 'Fire'. Strange.
Hopefully there will be some more press cuttings soon from other members of the 'Wiki-Six' forum so stay tuned!
Plus - there's a brand new poll! Click the 'Weekly Poll' link on the left to take part! The video for 'Chocolate
Pope' has been given a mixed reception, resulting in a mark of 6.9 / 10.
Finally, I've also done a bit of house-keeping on the site to bring some section up-to-date, especially the
'Switzerland' section that I'd let slip!
22nd August 2006 - Updated the merchandise and history sections with info from the book 'White Stripes and the Sound
of Mutant Blues' which I've just bought after borrowing it from the library long ago. Two main things that I've picked up
from re-reading it after becoming more into the band since the initial reading is that firstly they definitely did a
demo earlier on in their career with 8 tracks including 'Gay Bar' and 'I Lost Control (Of My Rock 'n' Roll)' and there is
an early photo containing six members: Dick, Anthony and Joe for definite, with three other members (Steve had yet to join).
I'll post this shortly to see if anyone can identify the members! Weirdly 'Corey' doesn't seem to be there unless he's
the one on the far left with long hair. Again, check this when I post it!
Also, good news via Damian and Tyler from the forum. Videos for 'Mr. Woman' and 'There's Something Very Wrong With Us,
So Let's Go Out Tonight' have been recorded, and 'Pink Flamingos' is currently being animated. More videos coming soon. Stay
tuned on this site and 'Wiki-Six' for all the latest news!
20th August 2006 - Results for the previous two polls are now in and a new poll is available via the 'Weekly Poll' link
on the left or via 'Wiki-Six'. 'Slices of You' has proved very popular, 'Chocolate Pope' not so much!
19th August 2006 - Sorry for the wait for this update but I've been on holiday for the past week with only my mobile
phone for Internet access so I could check and post on the forum but that was about it. Loads seems to have happened over
the last week. I've updated the history of the band and the merchandise section, plus the lyrics for the remaining 'Switzerland'
songs. It seems that the album has - inevitably in the Internet age - leaked. Remember that electricsixlyrics.co.uk does
not condone illegal downloading. If you enjoy the music, buy 'Switzerland' when it comes out! Don't forget to keep checking
the forum and this site for all the latest news!
11th August 2006 - 'Night Vision' and 'Infected Girls' have obviously proven popular with the fans from the results
of the previous two polls. There are another two now on the forum (go via the forum link or the weekly poll link) for
you to cast your opinion on. Sorry about the number of polls recently but with the amount of releases it's been necessary
to catch up... For those of you into statistics this is the standing so far of 'Switzerland' tracks and related material:
1st: Night Vision; 2nd: I Buy The Drugs; 3rd: Artwork; 4th: I Buy The Drugs Video; 5th: Infected Girls; 6th: Pulling
The Plug On The Party (though a vote of '1' put this down here; would be 3rd otherwise); 7th: Mr Woman
I've also been tinkering with the site in various places: adding record labels to releases; clarifying the upcoming
'I Buy The Drugs' and 'Switzerland' releases and just general tidying. Expect an update of the 'Danger! High Voltage' 4-track
CD soon. Keep checking the forum and the site for all the latest information and don't forget to purchase the digital
download on Tuesday!
7th August 2006 - Sorry about the delay in this as I've just got back from a long weekend fitting out my
new student crib. The lyrics for the 13th track on 'Switzerland' 'Chocolate Pope' are now online, plus information
about the video. There's also a link to the YouTube copy of the video.
There's also a new section on the website: an expanded 'Merchandise' section. If there are any non-music
bits of merchandise I've missed off, e-mail me at the usual address or post on the forum.
The results of the poll on the 'I Buy The Drugs' video are also in. Scoring a 7.6 / 10, it's a definite
thumbs up for the fifth 'Electric Six' video. Now, in an attempt to catch up on the tide of new songs / videos,
there are two new polls debuting today with another two appearing on Friday. Take part via the 'weekly poll' link
on the left or via the poll thread on Wiki-Six!
4th August 2006 - Just finished doing a bit of tinkering to the site, updating a few bits and bobs
here and there, adding a few things. Don't forget to keep checking 'Wiki-Six' for all the latest news
and contact me via e-mail if you have any corrections / additions etc!
31st July 2006 - The new MySpace site
is online and now debuting two new tracks - 'Night Vision' (as heard on 'American Troubador') and 'Slices of You'. The
lyrics are now online and the tracks are both fantastic. The studio version of 'Night Vision' is far better than I could
ever imagine!
31st July 2006 - Time to announce a brand new feature for the website - 'Net Archive'! Combining
links to all the major E6 sites and pages plus an online archive for those no longer available / currently
offline, click on the link on the left to explore or take part in preserving the history of the band
for future generations!
The next 'weekly poll' is also online, asking for your vote on the 'I Buy The Drugs' video! Take part
via the link on the left or via the usual place on the 'Wiki-Six' forum! 'Mr Woman' scored an average of
6.8, putting it in firm third place behind 'I Buy The Drugs' and 'Pulling The Plug On The Party'.
28th July 2006 - 3pm - Well, my fan video for 'Pulling The Plug On The Party' is now online! Click
'Fan Video' under the 'Special' section on the left menu to view. Enjoy!
27th July 2006 - As you can see from the banner above, the exclusive - now revealed to be a fan video
for the 'Switzerland' track 'Pulling The Plug On The Party' - will appear at 3pm BST tomorrow Friday
28th 2006 - so stay tuned. I've also taken the opportunity to update a few bits and bobs on this site
to! Don't forget to keep checking the forum as well!
23rd July 2006 - Brand new poll is now online (still weekly) but now accessed through the forum.
Either go there or see the direct link on the 'fortnightly poll' page. The results of the 'Switzerland
artwork' was overly positive with a 7.9 result overall. Thumbs up then for the minimilistic artwork!
Plus, good news on the 'exclusive' front: all ready for release on Friday. Keep your eyes peeled
for a new teaser banner each day as per usual with the 'exclusive' revealed on Thursday! Keep
checking out the forum for all the latest E6 news as well as the main site!
21st July 2006 - Double dose of stuff on MySpace... you can see the new video for 'I Buy The Drugs'
and hear new 'Switzerland' track 'Infected Girls'. The lyrics have been added for that track, plus details
on the video in the 'videos' section... plus you can see it there too!
For more on the video on 'YouTube', go to here
17th July 2006 - 'Mr. Woman' is now available to listen on MySpace and the lyrics are now up
in the 'Switzerland' section! Plus a posting on the official site reveals the 'I Buy The Drugs' video
to be on MySpace soon... keep your eyes peeled!
16th July 2006 - The third of our four special 'weekly polls' is now online - go to the link on
the left to vote!
14th July 2006 - Just a few general updates on today. Mike Alonso (Percussion World) has corrected
the names of bands he's been in. Big thank you for that. I've also uploaded the final two tracks of
the top 40 countdown: why not offer your opinions on it on 'Wiki-Six', the new message forum, as well
as taking part in all the other conversations! Check out the link on the left. I've also tinkered quickly
with the 'A-Z of songs' to show songs with demos and tracks unreleased commercially.
12th July 2006 - It's busy busy busy at the moment! After the joyous discovery of the track listing
yesterday, Metropolis Records have updated their site again. Read about the 'I Buy The Drugs' digital
download by clicking
here and see the cover below too!
Breaking news! The complete 'Switzerland' track list! Click on 'Switzerland' page for more
information. It's now available to pre-order.
11th July 2006 - And the next major update of the site is on... introducing the brand new message
form 'Wiki-Six', now available from the menu on the left. This replaces the old forum and its pop-up
adverts and unorganised content. Welcome to the world of proper forums! You can still access the old
forum by clicking here but this
won't be there forever so update your bookmarks and move over to the new forum now! There's also the
next two numbers in our top 40 countdown online now!
And news on the Metropolis Records site shows that 'I Buy The Drugs' will be released as a digital
download on the 15th August. Get it on your shopping list now!!!!
9th July 2006 - As the date of release for 'Switzerland' gets ever nearer, it's time to unveil the
new look for this site with 'Switzerland' colours. Thanks to Francis Shiers for the logo design and
inspiration! The next poll is up, following on from the 'I Buy The Drugs' poll. I've also uploaded
numbers 10 and 9 in our top 40 countdown, with more coming each day this week! The 'Switzerland' page
has also been updated. Keep an eye on the forum one for all the latest info too!
8th July 2006 - Updated 'Switzerland' section with a couple of new tracks!
7th July 2006 - Live album? With the rumours of a 'live album' once more surfacing, I've created a special page
in the 'Special' section of this site. Have a read and if you have anything to add, please contact me. Thanks
to Nick for this latest addition to the growing mystery! Plus, don't forget, there's only three more days
including today to vote in the poll!
5th July 2006 - The site's been updated with information on the 'I Buy The Drugs' video shoot thanks
to our great message boarders. I've also taken the time to add a bit more to the history of the band. Don't
forget to check out the results of the 'top 40' countdown so far and also take part in the poll which runs
until just Sunday this week!
2nd July 2006 - It's Sunday again and the numbers 20 - 11 are now up on our countdown of the top
40 'Electric Six' songs of all time. Feel free to post your opinions on the forum 1 thread. I've
also uploading a brand new poll that asks for your opinion on the 'Switzerland' track that looks
to be the band's next single - 'I Buy The Drugs'. The poll asks for your mark out of ten - take part
now and an average will be revealed at the end of the week... yes! You just have ONE week this time
as a new poll will be following next Sunday along a similar theme...
Meanwhile, I advise you keep an eye on the upcoming releases section of www.metropolis-records.com
(here's a link) as
'Switzerland' is now on there and will, hopefully, soon be updated with the track listing. I'll also
post it on this site, of course, when it is!
Update: Click here to see
the MySpace of someone who was on the 'I Buy The Drugs' video shoot... it contains many photos including
Dick is some rather dodgy glasses. Please be warned that the site is horribly designed and will take some
time to load even on broadband. Design issues aside, it's good to see some snaps. Also, check out the
messageboard for a fantastic description of the video shoot from Kathy!
30th June 2006 - Big news about 'Switzerland'. The cover art has now been uploaded on the band's
'MySpace'. Here is a - admitedly low-res - copy of it which is finally on even though I was pipped
to the post by our intrepid message-boarders!:
They've also got 'Pulling The Plug On The Party' and 'I Buy The Drugs' available to listen... but
you know where you heard about them first :-)
27th June 2006 - And Switzerland are out of the world cup, having been beaten 3-0 on penalties
by the Ukraine after a 0-0 match. Hopefully there will be a posting on the official site about
this shortly. But there is good news! On a posting on the official site, 'I Buy The Drugs' has
been revealed as the band's fifth single and first cut from 'Switzerland'. The video is to be filmed
this Saturday. I've now updated the 'Switzerland' and 'History' sections.
Update: E6 have posted, revealing 'I Buy The Drugs' to be the second track on the album!
26th June 2006 - Numbers 30 to 21 of the top forty Electric Six songs as voted by
you are now online! Don't forget to share your thoughts on the positions on the forum!
23rd June 2006 - With Switzerland having romped home with a 2-0 win against South Korea,
expect a new posting on the official site shortly about another track from 'Switzerland'.
Switzerland are now top of their group and are off through to the next round to face
the Ukraine in the next round after which we'll hopefully find out about another track
off Electric Six's upcoming third album!
UpdateAnd the posting has appeared! The tenth track on the album will be called
'Slices of You' and is, if the Valentine interview is correct, written by Valentine with
the music by Johnny Na$hional. The 'Switzerland' section has now been updated accordingly!
19th June 2006 (2) - Though 'Switzerland' scored an impressive 2-0 win against Toga
in today's world cup match there's still no new 'Switzerland' album news on the official
site. Hopefully it will appear tomorrow. In the meantime, either take the poll (see below)
or look at the 'Top 40' section as I reveal the numbers 40 - 31 in the top 40 Electric Six
songs as voted by you! And there's some shocking ommisions from the poll... Do I need
to mention the absence of 'Boy Or Girl', 'Devil Nights' or 'Be My Dark Angel' from the
top forty????
Update: OK... the site has been updated and revealed 'Pulling the Plug On
The Party' as track six. Alas, we already know about this song...
19th June 2006 - A brand new poll is now online, asking which is your favourite album so far. Click on the link
on the left menu to take part. The results of the last poll were in favour of both 'Telephone Conversation' and
'Stand Back' being released in the future. No new news on 'Switzerland' as yet but with Switzerland's next world cup match coming up today
(Monday) we should learn more from the official site. We're still waiting for tracks with 'Girls', 'tonight' and 'louder'
in the title following the posting on the official site a while ago.
13th June 2006 - A posting on the official site has revealed the opener of 'Switzerland'
to be a track called 'The Band in Hell'. It also promises to reveal a track for every
match 'Switzerland' plays so that's at least three. I know we will all be supporting our
own team but lets also support 'Switzerland' so we can find out more about the album!
9th June 2006 - Check out this fantastic new interview with Dick Valentine!
I have updated the 'Switzerland FAQ' with some of the info but still check out the interview as there's loads
of interesting stuff in it and we should all support Ben Kharakh - interview master who asks the right questions!
7th June 2006 - This is devotion for you! I stayed up until 5am GMT to listen to radio station Riff2 who
said they would be playing new material by Electric Six (Chris Tait / Tait Nucleus was guesting on the show)
and they did. They played 'Pulling the Plug On The Party' and 'I Buy The Drugs' from upcoming album 'Switzerland'
and Wildbunch classics 'R U Afraid of the Devil?' and 'The Ballade of MC Sucka DJ' which I need say no more about!
I have updated the relevant pages with lyrics as well! Apparantely there was a party at the Blind Pig where the
album was played. My verdict on the new track: it's actually immediately catchy! Cool!
4th June 2006 - Bit of a slow time for Electric Six news at the moment. I'm keeping my eyes out
for any news on the Internet about 'Switzerland' but there's nothing at the moment. There is,
however, a new poll on this site to get your opinions on two particular Electric Six tracks, following on
from the last poll which proved that a fourth album of new material would be great after the release
of 'Switzerland'. Click on the 'fortnightly poll' link on the left menu to vote!
21st May 2006 - Now that my computer is back after a major crash, I've updated the 'Switzerland'
page (it seems 'Lenny Kravitz' may not be on the album after all) and added a new poll. Click the link
on the left to vote. The previous poll is decisive: the use of pseudonyms is given the thumbs up by over
4/5ths of the voters!
10th May 2006 - Updated 'American Troubador' and 'Switzerland' pages thanks to new information
from Damien, including the title of a new song on 'Switzerland', the third one so far. Also, don't
forget to vote in the fortnightly poll and our 'top 40' countdown!
7th May 2006 - There's a brand new fortnightly poll online. On the previous one, 'Immolate Me'
proved itself to be the track most would like re-recording, closely followed by my personal choice
of 'The Ballade of MC Sucka DJ'.
I've also updated the 'Senor Smoke' listing for the USA version. Whilst preparing a track for my
radio show, I spotted that on the USA copy, 'Future Is In The Future' becomes 'The Future Is In The
Future'. Strange.
30th April 2006 - I've uploaded all the informatin about the 'American Troubador' gig in York.
Click the link above to see a complete set list with the lyrics for covers and THREE(!)
new tracks, two of which will appear on 'Switzerland' plus my photos and my review.
A big thank you to Dick, who I met at the end,
for a fantastic set. Those who will be seeing the upcoming gigs are in for a treat!
The section may contain spoilers if you haven't seen the show yet so read on with caution!
I've also put information up about the 'Big Mess' vinyl and a great link from Nicky to a 'Gay Bar' live track!
24th April 2006 - Just finished uploading loads of great information from someone
who wishes to remain anonymous but seems genuine enough. I don't know their name or
even where they are from but the information seems above board. I shall refer to them
as 'Bob' even though I don't even know if they're male or female! So thanks, Bob, whoever
you are!
You'll find the updated information all around the site. It includes a couple of previously
unknown tracks, some band information and lots of interesting stuff for the history of the band,
plus some corrections of the 'Danger! High Voltage' paintings.
23rd April 2006 - I've just this moment finished converting all the lyrics pages
from their original format to pure HTML because they had dodgy code in them. I feel
like I've got code passing by my eyes. Time to rest my fingers methinks! This site has
now gone from being a slow-loading 12mb whopper to a 3.5mb fast loading site. Hope
you're enjoying the new look!
Anyway, the results of the first poll are in. The winner of the best opening line
of an Electric Six song is 'Your body goes to waste every minute you don't give it to
me' from 'Dance Epidemic', securing nearly one third of the votes! There is a new poll up
to ask 'If Electric Six were to re-record one of their pre-Fire tracks (cover versions
aside), which would you want it to be?'. Vote via the link on the left. Don't forget to
also vote for your favourite E6 songs - click on 'Top 40' on the menu on the left.
I've had some excellent information from a fan which will be on the site shortly:
trust me... it'll be worth it.
I shall be seeing Dick's 'American Troubador' tour on sunday so more information
coming soon...
10th April 2006 - Hello and welcome to the spruced up electricsixlyrics.co.uk.
Though it doesn't seem five minutes since the last time I updated the site, I felt
it was due a sprucing up as no matter what anyone says, Microsoft Word is just not
suitable for making a website unless you want one that takes ages to load and
takes up loads of webspace. Now the site - which was starting to get a bit rambling -
is more organised with the menu on the left. I've also take the opportunity to update
the discography, history of the band and other bits and bobs.
Obviously, if you spot any mistakes or want to add something, contact me using the
link as lots of fans have over the last few months. Don't forget to check out the
message board and the poll to find the top 40 Electric Six songs ever. Now hopefully
this site will continue to grow in popularity as it's easier to use. It's now just a
waiting game until Switzerland arrives!
[PS The lyrics for 'Telephone Conversation' are now available in the 'Live' section
thanks to Golden Tony and soon I'll have a report from one of Dick's acoustic sessions
here in the UK! Stay tuned!]
5th April 2006 - Time for some user participation methinks! Visit the message board
(click the link at the bottom of the page) and you'll see a thread to vote for your
favourite 'The Wildbunch' / 'Electric Six' / 'The Dirty Shame' song of all time.
There are 69 contenders but who'll make the top 40? Send your selections to me via
e-mail and at the end of May I will announce the top 40 favourite songs of all time.
But who'll be at the top? Will it be a 'dance commander' or an 'electric demon'? Will
some 'future boys' top the poll or will the result lead to a 'dance epidemic'? Maybe
the band will go to 'Honolulu' or start 'dancing like an idiot' at the result? The
final list is in your hands...
[I've also uploaded some new compilations onto the discography]
5th March 2006 - Plenty more updates for you now. My American copy of 'Senor Smoke'
has finally arrived so I've updated the discography accordingly with the tracks and
differences between the UK and US versions. I've also added the details about the 2nd
promo of 'Fire' and have corrected the band members list in the trivia section so it
works both for IE and Firefox. I'm sure all links now work but, if you do find one
that doesn't, e-mail me! I've also updated the trivia page with some web links to the
Rather Good Gay Bar video, an E6 'Fire' e-card with a 'Young as Hell' video (which was
told to me earlier by Francis Shiers) and some news about a Gay Bar remix and a Gay
Bar mash up. I shall be updating 'Ghettoblaster 2' when I get it.
25th February 2006 - OK... it's a big bonus for you out there. Not only have I uploaded
a new find of a 'Dance Commander 12'' promo', I have also got hold of the 'Smog Cutter
Love Story' album and have uploaded the lyrics. Plus, I have uploaded information and
lyrics about some demos for some of the classic E6 songs (thanks to Kathy for info
regarding this) - see the trivia section - as well a new compilation CD I found from
2004 - Dance Now 2004. I have also been advised of a tape edition of 'I Lost Control
(Of My Rock and Roll)' by Francis Shiers and this has been uploaded on to the
discography. I'm now just waiting for my American copy of 'Señor Smoke' and my copy of
'Ghettoblaster 2' to reach me and then the site will be fully up to date! The
alphabetic list and guide to releases has been updated accordingly with these new
official releases. Fans of the band should also be made aware that two copies of live
album 'Don't be afraid of the robot' are currently on eBay!
22nd February 2006 - Following a useful e-mail from Ryan Stanley, I've discovered why
my site statistics have been throwing up errors. It seems my FireFox tests weren't
good enough and a lot of pages were inaccessible to those without Microsoft's
dominating browser. Hopefully all problems have been ironed out but if anyone finds a
dodgy link please either e-mail me or post in the new 'site problems' section on the
message board. Again, thanks to Ryan and to anyone else who spots any problems!
12th February 2006 - Hello again. My copy of 'Señor Smoke' USA is on its way from
America so I will confirm some of the details soon. The more eagle eyed of you will
notice that a few new entries have appeared over the last week. The first is a promo
I've managed to get hold of with a track by 'Young Heart Attack' and 'Danger! High
Voltage' on a small 3'' CD. The second is a second promo of 'Dance Commander' which I
will complete the upload of once I return home where the CD is. The third is a CD that
should be on its way. A random search of Google uncovered a record by 'Motor City
Works' that includes a live version of 'I'm A Demon' recorded at The Brewery.
Hopefully that'll be with me soon. As always, e-mail me with any corrections or visit
the message board below. [I would also like to suggest fans check out eil.com, as well
as the usual haunt of eBay to pick up some E6 rarities, but as usual caveat emptor!]
I would also like to shout out to the
Myspace Electric Six Site for their DJ Peakform
remix of 'Pleasing Interlude II'. Though it's not official and won't appear on the
'A-Z', here are the lyrics...
30th January 2006 - I would like to publicly apologise for some e-mail problems over
the last month. Some have been stopped by my SPAM filter when they shouldn't have
been. All problems have been stopped so e-mail away! On another note, I am happy that
several people have expressed interested in getting hold of some of the old tracks as
there is nothing I would like better than to provide E6 fans with old tracks but, even
they though can no longer be bought, I don't want to be arrested for copyright
infringement. Sorry.
19th January 2006 - I should be revising for my exams but instead I'd rather be
updating this website because that's far more interesting. Anyway, having laughed my
hat off (if I was wearing a hat) at the excellent Q and As posted on the official site,
I felt it was time for me to upload two FAQ pages. So for those of you who get into the
synthesizer and would like to be my electric demon (not half as good as the official
one, I'm afraid), click here for the Señor Smoke one [NB: now removed - it's on the
main discography section now], and here for the third album FAQ. These will be updated
as and when new information comes to light. Also, I have updated the band members with
all the correct names apart from that of Dr. Blacklips Hoffman. Do you know his real
name? If so, contact me, or post a message on the absolutely bustling forum.
13th January 2006 - Following on from the posting on the official site, I would also
like to say to anyone in America (and anywhere else if you are really keen - I've pre-
ordered the American version) who has seen the band live and likes their music to buy
the album. 'Señor Smoke' didn't get the credit it deserved in the UK so it deserves a
high chart placing in America. One of the cheapest I've found it is direct from the
record label at
www.metropolis-records.com. It's $12.98 (not including shipping).
There are several other places to buy it:
Amazon ($15.98 + $2.98 shipping (no p+p on orders over $25); and
CD Universe ($11.99 + $2.99 cheapest shipping). Please
be aware that the shipping costs vary depending on how much you order and what shipping
speed you select, and I cannot vouch for the service of any of these sites. Caveat
emptor!
6th January 2006 - May I send my apologies to anyone having problems accessing the
site in the last few days. This was due to the site being hosted on free web space and
with limited bandwidth. I'm now on a proper hosting site so there shouldn't be any
problems now.
2nd January 2006 - Complete lyrics from album 'Rock Empire' and single 'I Lost Control
(of my Rock & Roll)' and information on 'X-mas Xorcismus (Ho Ho Ho)' uploaded
2nd January 2006 - New version of site online to celebrate the impending release of
'Señor Smoke' in North America.
